Areas Of Expertise
Server Administration
I’ve been learning server administration since 2015, both for personal projects and personal server set-ups as well as in a professional context for my work. My first project was for my bachelor thesis, which centered on the need for data anonymity and less reliance on services such as Google. I am an open source enthusiast and advocate for data ownership and the usage of secure services and programs. I started out setting up a Nextcloud server on a Raspberry Pi. After that, I moved into virtualization, including Docker and Kubernetes.
Currently I am running a home server with Kubernetes, and some of the services I have running include:
- Personal cloud including documents, media, calendar, and contacts (Nextcloud)
- Chat Service (Matrix and Rocket.chat)
- User Management (LDAP)
- Secure Password Management and Storage (Bitwarden)
- Code Versioning Systems (Gitlab, Gitea)
- SmartHome (Home Assistant)
- Databases
- Home theater and media management system (Jellyfin)
- Website Hosting and Set-Up (WordPress)
I also enjoy tinkering with server set-up in general, and have many small side projects including custom helm charts (for Kubernetes), running video game servers, or setting up and hosting organizational apps for everyday life, such as shopping list apps or finance trackers.
Data Science
My experience in the data science field comes primarily from my work. I have worked for a company in the healthcare field since 2019 that aims to optimize the German healthcare system by using data to gain insights. My tasks at work are varied, and I have acquired a broad set of skills:
- Data analysis and data modelling (SQL, Python, R, XGBoost)
- Database administration
- Server administration (Kubernetes, chat set-up, and ERP system)
- Customer support
Programming
I’ve been writing scripts to automate and optimize tasks for many years and have always enjoyed coding and learning how computers and technology works. I often write programs for personal projects as well as for work, and have experience with Python, R, Javascript, Java, and terminal languages such as Bash and Batch.
